War Of Attrition 'looking For Gold Cup Swansong'

War of Attrition will be making his last ever appearance in tomorrows (April 21st) Gold Cup at Punchestown.

The horse is 14/1 with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») to sign off in style, while Denman is the 6/4 favourite with Blue Square(Go to Blue Square ») and another heavily-fancied runner is Joncol, who is available at 5/1 with 888Sport(Go to 888sport »).

A former winner of the race, his trainer Mouse Morris will be hoping his charge can perform well one last time.

He told the Press Association: "He likes Punchestown and the ground is in his favour. I'm just hoping he runs a nice, respectable race and isn't disgraced."

Morris added that he ran well for a long time at the Cheltenham Gold Cup, but that he did not quite have the legs for it.

According to the information outlet, the former jockey thinks the main thing is that he gets around safe and then he can start looking forward to his retirement.
