Eric's Charm To Miss Gold Cup
Eric's Charm has been pulled out of the Gold Cup this Saturday (April 24th) due to the firm ground.Trainer Oliver Sherwood has confirmed that he could not risk the horse at Sandown, as he felt he could sustain an injury.
It had been one of the favourites for the race as it looked to build upon its good history in the race.
Just Amazing currently leads the betting at 7/1 with Blue Square(Go to Blue Square »), while Fairoak Lad is 8/1 with Skybet(Go to Skybet »).
Sherwood said: "He's not running unfortunately. I always said if the ground stayed on the fast side ... that he wouldn't run. He's got to have cut in the ground."
The handler noted that his only chance would have been for a downpour, but he added there is a chance he may run in the summer.
According to Sherwood, the charge is not getting any younger and after an easy season, he may be able to carry on for a bit longer.
