St Nicholas Abbey goes into the 2000 Guineas as favourite, but Awzaan has a good chance, according to his trainer.Angus Gold, racing manager to owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, noted that the horse continues to prove himself as a top-quality mount, adding: "On his pedigree he should get the mile."
Awzaan is 8/1 with Betfred(Go to Betfred ») to emerge victorious from the race, while Elusive Pimpernel is available at 5/1 with 888Sport(Go to 888sport »).
Gold remarked that he is "a small horse but that is the way he is made and what we have to play with" and he noted that he has no worries over his stamina, which is yet to be proven.
As well as St Nicholas Abbey, Aiden O'Brien also has Fencing Master and Viscount Nelson running from his Ballydoyle base.
Buzzword - a 66/1 shot with Totesport(Go to Totesport ») - is a first Classic runner for second trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni.
