RFU to bid for 2015 World Cup

England is to submit a bid to host the Rugby World Cup in 2015, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has confirmed.Twickenham, Wembley, Old Trafford and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium are among the planned venues and a proposal is to be made to the International Rugby Board Council next week.Lawrence Dallaglio and Will Greenwood - members of the England squad that won the trophy in 2003 - will be included in the delegation, along with secretary of state for culture, media and sport Andy Burnham.The latter described the bid as "outstanding", adding that it "will take the game to new audiences". "It has the government's full support and we will now work with [the RFU] to make the case for it," said Mr Burnham.Meanwhile, Roger Lewis of the Welsh Rugby Union stated that he is "delighted" plans to play matches in Wales are included.The 2011 Rugby World Cup is to be held in New Zealand and the hosts are 11/10 favourites with Boyle Sports, with England fourth favourites at 8/1 behind Australia and South Africa.
