Carter a possibility for Tri-Nations

New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter could make a late appearance in the Tri-Nations series if he is fit in time, according to All Blacks skipper Richie McCaw.Carter, who has been sidelined for six months since sustaining an achilles injury, could be available by the end of the competition as it runs through to late September, McCaw told South African journalists. He said: "If he is ready to come back in, it would be a bonus, but you wouldn't want to put him back in here if he wasn't ready."A decision on whether or not it would be right for him to play is up to the coaches, the openside flanker added. Due to turn out tomorrow (July 25th) for Christchurch club Southbridge, Carter revealed he was "confident" of his fitness levels. New Zealand are currently considered slight favourites with some bookmakers to win the Tri-Nations, with Sporting Index(Go to Sporting Index ») offering odds of 27/30 on an All Blacks victory. South Africa are available at 11/8 with Extrabet(Go to Extrabet »).
