Andy Gomarsall joins Leeds
England international Andy Gomarsall has joined Leeds Carnegie from Harlequins on a one-year contract. The 35-year-old scrum-half, who has played for Wasps, Bath, Bedford and Gloucester during his career, was quoted by BBC Sport as saying he was looking forward to the challenge of keeping the side in the Premiership this season.
"I would have not signed here if I didn't feel Leeds can be competitive," he remarked.
"It's great to have a year here at a club that has such high levels of coaching, players and infrastructure."
Gomarsall won the World Cup with England in 2003 and his trophy collection also includes a Powergen Cup from 1999 when he was with Wasps.
The bookmakers do not expect him to pick up any more silverware this season, however, with Leeds favourites to come last in the Premiership.
