MacRae: I wanted a shot at Guinness Premiership

Former Magners League rugby union player Calum MacRae has revealed that competing in the Guinness Premiership has been one of his ambitions after joining the Worcester Warriors earlier this week.

The full-back has signed a one-year contract with the Sixways Stadium side and he told the squad's official website that he was "ready for a new challenge".

He remarked: "It was something that I had aspirations to do, having spoken to a lot of the guys who I have played with up in Scotland who have tried it."

According to the 29-year-old, the first step has now been completed with the deal, but it is important that he focuses on claiming a spot for games.

While Guinness Premiership play is "intense", he remarked, it is good to be in the same side as "big names" such as Chris Latham and Rico Gear.

The Warriors are currently a 100/1 shot with William Hill(Go to William Hill ») to win the title this year.

Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes ») considers Leicester to be the favourites and offers odds of 9/4.
