Rugby Union Betting Dallaglio: Thompson Experience 'important'
Steve Thompson's return to the England Rugby union team on Saturday brings some important experience to the squad, according to Lawrence Dallaglio.Former England captain Dallaglio says: "He's one of the few players in the side that has beaten Australia - not just once, but on a regular basis."
In fact, Thompson has been in an Australia-defeating line-up on four previous occasions during his 48 England caps.
Dallaglio adds that many of his current teammates have yet to breathe the "rarefied air" that is enjoyed only by the best team in the global game.
But in Thompson, he suggests the squad has a man who has already experienced "the top of the world" and knows what it takes to get there.
However, it seems the bookies don't share Dallaglio's enthusiasm, with Blue Square(Go to Blue Square ») listing Australia at odds of 4/9 to take the win.
Conversely, England are listed as the underdogs, with odds of 2/1 available from Betfair(Go to Betfair »).
