Rugby Union Betting - Sale Hopes Boosted By Double Signing?
Sale Sharks may find their odds of lifting the Guinness Premiership at the end of this season are a little higher with confirmation that two players have committed their future to the team. Welsh duo Lee Thomas and Nick Macleod both signed a two-year extension just two weeks after England international Mark Cueto agreed a deal for the next four years.
Director of rugby at the club Kingsley Jones said it is "great news" that the players have decided to stay until 2012.
He remarked: "Hopefully, it shows the boys want to be here, that it's a good place to be and that we are looking forward to trying to build something special."
According to Jones, agreeing to stay was particularly tough for Thomas, as he has no family ties to Manchester and may have been attracted by other offers.
Sale are currently rank outsiders to win the Guinness Premiership this season, with Blue Square(Go to Blue Square ») offering odds of 80/1 on this happening.
However, bookmakers think it is more likely that they will reach the playoffs, including Extrabet(Go to Extrabet »), which estimates their chances as 6/1.
