Ashton Signs For Saints
Fans of the Northampton Saints may be encouraged to hear that Chris Ashton has penned a new deal that will keep him at the club for a further two years. The winger arrived from Wigan Warriors in the summer of 2007 and he noted that he has settled into the team nicely.
He remarked: "It was a hard year last year as I came to terms with the [Guinness] premiership, but the coaches stuck with me and are helping me get better at rugby union."
According to the 22-year-old, he is happy to be in a side that is ambitious and is looking forward to being a part of a team that is on its way up.
Ashton has secured 15 tries in his 16 games of the 2009-10 season and is currently the league's leading scorer.
The Saints are currently offered at 4/1 odds at Betfred(Go to Betfred ») to win the premiership this campaign, while Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power ») considers Leicester the favourites at 7/4.
