Rush Signs With Ulster

Back row forward Xavier Rush has penned a new contract with Ulster, with the New Zealand player set to join the camp for pre-season training on July 1st.

The former Cardiff Blues athlete possesses eight caps for his country so far and he has been described as a "great asset" to the Ulster squad by director of rugby at the club David Humphreys.

He stated: "He is a big hitter on the field and has been instrumental in Cardiff Blues' success in recent seasons."

Commenting on the move, Rush said he was "delighted" to be adding to the ranks of such an ambitious side, noting that its young players in particular are a highlight.

While he admitted that his time at Cardiff was "terrific", the 32-year-old explained that he was looking for a fresh challenge.

The province is currently at 16/1 to win the Magners League with Bet365(Go to Bet365 »), while Totesport(Go to Totesport ») has Leinster as the 2/1 favourites.
