Hayman To Join Toulon

Former All-Black prop Carl Hayman has announced that he will be leaving Newcastle Falcons to move to big-spending French team Toulon at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has won a number of plaudits for his efforts since joining the side back in 2007 and his decision to move will see him once again link up with Johnny Wilkinson and Tom May.

Newcastle face a tricky trip to title-chasing Saracens this weekend, with Betfair(Go to Betfair ») offering odds of 71/50 on the northern club emerging victorious.

Only three points off the bottom of the table, Hayman will be hoping to help his side escape relegation before he goes - they are currently 7/1 with Betfred(Go to Betfred ») to get the chop.

He noted that it had been a difficult decision and told BBC Newcastle: "My decision never took into account performances or affected them, it's nice to be able to focus now on the sharp end of the season."
