Moores takes up head coach position at Lancashire

Former England head coach Peter Moores has been appointed as the new head coach at Lancashire Lightning.Moores will take on the role from March 1st and admitted he was delighted to sign a three-year contract with the club he supported as a child."I feel very excited and privileged to be given the opportunity to work for the county I grew up supporting," he remarked.Following the news, the Lightning are now joint fourth favourites to win the County Championship in the cricket betting along with Hampshire.Reigning champions Durham are expected to take the title by the bookmakers, ahead of Nottinghamshire and Somerset.Moores hit the headlines last month when he was sacked by the England and Wales Cricket Board after a public disagreement with batsman Kevin PietersenSouth African-born Pietersen was the captain at the time and chose to step down from the position following the row.
