Flintoff expected to recover for World Twenty20
Andrew Flintoff is expected to be available for the World Twenty20 in June, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced. The all-rounder had to undergo surgery to repair a cartilage tear in his knee, having picked up the injury while playing in the Indian Premier League.Concerns had been raised that he would miss the tournament, which England host, but the operation has been deemed "routine and successful".Flintoff will, however, be unavailable for the Test series against the West Indies, which gets underway at Lord's next week.Commenting on the surgery, ECB managing director Hugh Morris said: "The surgeon has informed the ECB chief medical officer Nick Peirce that the operation went extremely smoothly."England are currently given odds of 10/1 for the World Twenty20 by Skybet, having suffered a humiliating six-wicket defeat in the format to the West Indies during the Caribbean tour last month.
