Flower given England coaching job

England will be guided through their busy summer of cricket by Andy Flower, it has been confirmed. The former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batsman was announced as the new team director by the England and Wales Cricket Board. He was an assistant coach under Peter Moores before taking temporary charge for the tour of the West Indies and was widely tipped to enter the role in a permanent capacity.England's first challenge is a return series against the Windies next month, before hosting the Twenty20 World Cup in June. But the focus is likely to be on Australia, as the side attempts to regain the Ashes later in the summer. And all-rounder Stuart Broad suggested that Flower's appointment will be beneficial, as he was playing international cricket as recently as 2003."He's been a world-class player throughout his career and just churned out runs," said Broad, adding: "Just to have him around is a fantastic influence."England are currently priced 9/4 by Paddy Power for the Ashes, with the holders given odds of 8/13.
