England victorious over titleholders
England are now one step closer to a semi-final place in the World Twenty20 Cup after beating reigning holders India by three runs yesterday. Kevin Pietersen was England's top batsman scoring 46 runs from 27 balls which left captain Paul Collingwood's side on 153-7 with India only able to answer 150-5 by the end of play.India chose to bowl after winning the toss and England suffered a shaky start after Luke Wright was dismissed in the second over for a single run. However, Ravi Bopara and Pietersen added 71 to the score before their partnership was broken when spinner Ravi Jadeja bowled Bopara in tenth over. KP fell victim to the 20-year-old bowler soon after with the hosts putting together another 61 runs before 2007 winners India came into bat. This proved enough as India only managed to string together 150-3 before all overs were played. Many bookies are struggling to call the upcoming England match against West Indies with Boyle Sports (Go to Boyle Sports ») putting both sides at 10/11. Those looking to bet on the hosts to win the whole cup can find odds of 8/1 at William Hill (Go to William Hill »).
