India favourites for World Twenty20

India are the bookies' favourite to win the World Twenty20 Cup after defeating Pakistan by nine wickets earlier this week. The current holders, available at 3/1 odds with PageBet (Go to PageBet »), beat fellow 2007 finalists Pakistan's total of 158 runs with three overs still remaining. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni described the victory as one of the team's "best games", although he suggested that they have more to prove if they are to retain their title. He stated: "I don't think [beating Pakistan] underlines our status as favourites though. It's not about being favourites, you have to perform like this throughout the tournament to win."The opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir secured India 140 runs, with the batsmen scoring 80 and 52, respectively. Dhoni, who was undefeated on nine runs, also outlined the importance of winning the game after the side lost to New Zealand earlier this week. Expekt (Go to Expekt ») currently has Indian batsman Virender Sehwag as their favourite for the tournament's highest scoring player at odds of 20/1.
