South Africa favourites despite KP's return
South Africa are still the favourites to defeat England in an upcoming tour, despite the potential return of top batsman Kevin Pietersen. England will face the Proteas on South African soil in November, with Stan James(Go to Stan James ») offering 1/2 odds on a home victory.
The visitors are available with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») at 4/1, with England team director Andy Flower telling Sky Sports News that a Pietersen return is looking likely.
He remarked: "I spoke to him yesterday but I think we are confident in saying he will be back for South Africa," although Flower admitted that the Achilles injury which kept the Hampshire county club player out of the Ashes is still troubling him.
"Sometimes you never know what is good or bad luck," the team director remarked, adding that the damage has enabled the 29-year-old to take time away from the game.
Pietersen will not play a part in the upcoming seven-match one-day series against Australia, he confirmed.
