One day cricket - Strauss at odds with England batting

England's batsmen need to take responsibility for the failure to beat Australia in the second one-day international at Lord's, Andrew Strauss has said.

The captain lamented his side's failure to reach their target of 250, particularly as they had put themselves in a strong position by reaching 74 without loss.

Ultimately dismissed for 210, England saw four wickets fall for just 23 runs and Strauss suggested that a number of these were "soft".

Commenting on the fact that the hosts were left relying on the bowlers to score runs, he said: "Everyone has got a start but hasn't gone on … I firmly believe your top six have to score the bulk of your runs."

Australia have taken a 2-0 lead in the seven-game series, having clinched victory at the Oval in the opener.

The tourists are 1/8 favourites with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») to emerge victorious, while Stan James(Go to Stan James ») prices England at 11/2.
