Cricket Betting News - Warne Claims England Have No Depth
Retired Australian cricketer Shane Warne has claimed England will have no depth against South Africa later this year if selectors choose Stuart Broad as the seventh batsman. The recent Ashes winners are to tour the African country for one-day internationals, Twenty20 match-ups and a Test series, but Warne wrote in his Times column that England risk pushing Broad too early as an all-rounder, leaving the side unbalanced.
"If England want to ruin Stuart Broad, it strikes me that they may be going the right way about it," he stated.
According to the spin specialist, keeping a five man bowling line-up for the tour could also be a mistake.
He stated: "The only time a team should go with five bowlers is when one of them is a genuine all-rounder."
The home side remain the favourites for the Test series between the two teams, with bookmaker Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet ») offering odds of 4/9 on a South Africa victory.
Stan James(Go to Stan James ») has England at 9/2.
