Arthur Resignation To Affect SA Odds?

Mickey Arthur's surprise resignation as coach of the South Africa cricket team could affect their odds for the upcoming match with India.

The Proteas have now placed Corrie van Zyl as an interim coach to replace the 41-year-old Arthur, who had served the team since 2005 and the new boss will lead the side for the two-test and three one-day international tour.

Arthur said that it was time to let someone else take over the helm.

"The timing is very unfortunate with an exciting two-test tour of India coming up but the international cricket calendar these days means that there is never a good time," Arthur told Reuters.

Van Zyl has experience with the South African national squad, having acted as assistant coach between 1998 and 2003 and will take up his new position on February 6th.

South Africa are now at 3/1 with Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes »), with the odds drifting, while Betdaq(Go to Betdaq ») has India at 11/10.
