SA Cricket Selecting Panel Sacked
Mike Proctor has announced that the squad's whole selection panel has been sacked by Cricket South Africa (CSA). The head selector admitted in a Talk Radio 702 interview that a meeting between the two parties last week "did not go well".
"(CSA chief executive) Gerald Majola called me up and told me that the selection panel was dysfunctional. It was a huge shock to us all," he added.
It comes just a day after lead coach Mickey Arthur handed in his resignation and Proctor claimed that CSA forced him into the decision.
And former Gloucestershire all-rounder Proctor refuted rumours that Arthur left his post due to an argument with squad captain Graeme Smith, but refused to be drawn out on whether CSA's decisions were based around filling racial quotas.
The news could affect South Africa's performance in an upcoming tour of India, with the home team currently considered evens at 888Sport(Go to 888sport ») and Blue Square(Go to Blue Square ») to win a two-Test series in February.
