Siddle Out For The Season
Fast bowler Peter Siddle will miss Australia's upcoming tour of New Zealand after being ruled out for the season with back problems. Siddle sustained damage to his back in limited overs competition against Pakistan, with subsequent medical examination revealing the extent of the injury.
Australia team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said: "The source of the pain was investigated after the fifth one-day international and unfortunately scans revealed that he has a lower back stress fracture."
According to Kountouris, this means the 25-year-old will require "a long rehabilitation period", so he will miss both the tour and the domestic season.
As such, Siddle is to be unavailable for selection when Australia meet the West Indies later on this week.
Starting on February 7th, the one-day international series sees Australia as the favourites with most bookmakers, including both Blue Square(Go to Blue Square ») and Stan James(Go to Stan James »), which have them at 1/6 to win.
Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») has the West Indies at 4/1 to triumph.
