Collingwood: Resting Strauss Is A Good Idea

Allowing Andrew Strauss to rest during the upcoming Bangladesh tour is a good idea, says Paul Collingwood.

The all-rounder defended the decision after Australian spin-bowler Shane Warne described the move as disrespectful to Test cricket, SunSport reports.

According to Collingwood, due to the length of the English cricket season, it is important to ensure key players are allowed to recover for the big events.

He remarked: "It will be a fantastic decision if the captain gets fresh, gets in form and scores bag-loads of runs in the Ashes."

Even without Strauss the team has enough confidence and personality to ensure results keep on track, the 33-year-old explained.

Commenting on the recent form of Kevin Pietersen, Collingwood claimed that he is the "X-factor player" for England and will be a sure-fire run scorer in the neat future.

The visitors remain the favourites to come away with the victory in Bangladesh, with both Betfred(Go to Betfred ») and Sportingbet(Go to Sportingbet ») offering odds of 2/7 on an England triumph.
