Morgan Secures ECB Deal
Eoin Morgan's match-winning century against Bangladesh yesterday (March 2nd) means the Middlesex batsman has been given an increment deal by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Cricketers who are not already centrally contracted to the ECB can be awarded an agreement if they earn a certain score through a points system.
A player must reach 20 to be automatically qualify for the arrangement, with five points awarded per Test match and two points for a Twenty20 (T20) contest or one-day international.
ECB managing director Hugh Morris said: "Eoin has made excellent progress since making his England debut against West Indies last summer and is now an established member of our one-day and T20 sides."
According to Morris, Morgan has "fully justified" selectors' decision to continue including him in the squad.
Morgan is currently considered the favourite to be England's top batsman once the one-day internationals with Bangladesh conclude, with Extrabet(Go to Extrabet ») offering odds of 4/6.
Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes ») has England as most likely to come away with the outright victory at 1/7.
