England 'ready To Succeed' In Twenty20 World Cup

England have picked a balanced squad to meet the challenges of Twenty20 cricket, it has been claimed.

National selector Geoff Miller was speaking after the panel of players for the Twenty20 World Cup was announced, with no places for Test regulars Andrew Strauss, Alistair Cook and Matt Prior.

However, Michael Lumb and Craig Kieswetter are both included, with Miller noting that both cricketers have proved their international limited-overs pedigree.

England open their campaign with a game against Ireland, with Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power ») offering odds of 1/10 that they will record a victory.

The country are 8/1 with Skybet(Go to Skybet ») to win the whole tournament, but Australia remain the favourites - Coral(Go to Coral ») have them at 4/1.

Miller believes that better execution on the pitch is key to their chances of victory.

"Our fielding, which is such a vital aspect of limited-overs cricket, has improved markedly and there's no reason we can't perform well in what will be a challenging global tournament," he added.
