Michael Yardy: We Have A Good Twenty20 Squad

Michael Yardy believes that England have enough quality in their squad to go far into the Twenty20 World Cup.

The side have won both of their warm-up games against Bangladesh and South Africa, which has left the squad feeling confident.

England are 1-/1 with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») to lift the trophy, while Australia are the 3/1 favourites with Betfred(Go to Betfred »).

But Yardy noted that the "squad is very versatile [and] I think we're covered in all bases".

He also remarked that their fielding, which has come under criticism in the past, has been good so far, adding: "What we did well was limit them early; I think they were five off three overs."

He singled out Eoin Morgan for special praise after he hit a 53-ball half century against the Proteas, while Paul Collingwood and Tim Bresnan also played their part.

The Sussex captain took two wickets to add to the three he picked up against Bangladesh and he is now looking forward to opening his campaign against the West Indies on May 3rd.
