Murray's ranking hopes resting with Federer
Andy Murray will be relying on Roger Federer to keep his hopes of moving up the world rankings alive, after the Swiss booked a semi-final encounter against Novak Djokovic at the Miami Masters.British number one Murray can become world number three if he wins the event, as long as Djokovic fails to reach the final.Federer required three sets to make it into the last four, beating Andy Roddick 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.Serbian Djokovic, meanwhile, had an easier time as he dismissed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 6-4, although he had to battle a stomach complaint.Today, Murray will attempt to join them at the semi-final stage when he faces eighth seed Fernando Verdasco, with the winner facing either Juan Martin del Potro or Rafael Nadal.Murray is odds-on favourite for his quarter-final, but is third favourite for the tournament behind Nadal and Federer, with Totesport giving the Scot odds of 4/1.
