Nadal through after "hard-fought match"
Odds-on favourite Rafael Nadal has made it through to the second round of the French Open, but only after a tough test.Marcos Daniel, ranked 97th in the world, battled hard before the reigning champion took the match 7-5, 6-4, 6-3.The victory marked Nadal's 29th victory at the tournament - where he remains unbeaten - and he is a 2/5 shot with Extrabet to claim his fifth consecutive title.Commenting on the win, he said: "It was difficult. I was expecting a hard-fought match but I obviously wasn't at my best level," although he added that he has had similar experiences in all four previous first-round matches.Roger Federer has also won through to the second round and is second favourite to claim the only Grand Slam title that has eluded him to date, with Stan James offering punters odds of 5/1.Federer revealed last week that he has renewed confidence after overcoming Nadal in the final of the Madrid Masters - only the second time he has beaten the Spaniard on clay.
