Federer is bookies' favourite for Wimbledon
Roger Federer is currently favourite to win Wimbledon, after securing the French Open crown for the first time in his career yesterday. Skybet (Go to Skybet ») currently has the Swiss at 5/4 following his 6-1, 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 victory over Robin Soderling, which made him only the sixth male tennis player with all four Grand Slam titles to his name. Fred Perry, Don Budge, Roy Emerson, Rod Laver and Andre Agassi are also on the list. Federer had previously reached the final of the French Open three years in a row, but had been defeated by Rafael Nadal each time. Commenting on his win, the 27-year old described it as possibly his "greatest victory". "It takes away so much pressure. Now, I can play in peace for the rest of my career," he remarked.Soderling has emerged at 33/1 odds with bookmakers Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») to triumph at Wimbledon after his performance at Roland Garros.
