Nadal to make Montreal comeback

Former world number one Rafael Nadal is due to make a return at the Montreal Masters later this month, according to his coach.

Speaking to Radio Marca Toni Nadal - who is also the player's uncle - confirmed the Spaniard will feature in the tournament, but was unsure of his fitness.

He remarked: "To see what form he's in, we'll have to see how he copes in a proper match," adding, "there is no particular objective at present".

Admitting that the 22-year-old had not been pushing himself in training, Nadal's trainer stressed that the focus would be on getting the athlete prepared in time for the US Open.

Nadal has been unable to play for two months due to tendinitis in both knees, which ruled him out of both the French Open and Wimbledon this year.

Roger Federer is currently the favourite to take the trophy in this year's US Open, which begins on August 31st. Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») has odds of 6/4 on him winning.

Those looking to bet on home-grown talent can find Andy Murray at 3/1 with Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet »).
