Murray: I want to go up in the rankings
British number one Andy Murray has admitted that he has aspirations of moving up the tennis world rankings. The current world number three said that while he may leap Rafael Nadal in the near future, due to the Spaniard's injury it would not mean as much.
He remarked: "Rafa's missed three months. If I do overtake him it's not like I've been playing so much better than him," although he added that he would "want to try and improve my ranking as much as possible."
Murray cruised into the third round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal yesterday, a tournament that he has a 3/1 shot at winning according to bookmaker Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power »).
Defeating Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 6-2, the 22-year-old will now face either Juan Carlos Ferrero or Gael Monfils.
Looking ahead to the US Open, those looking to bet on Scotsman Murray to win the title will find odds of 7/2 with Sportingbet(Go to Sportingbet »).
