Andy Murray 3/1 to win US Open
Andy Murray has been backed in to 3/1 to win the US Open at William Hill(Go to William Hill ») following his victory in the Montreal Masters yesterday. The Scotsman, who overtook Rafael Nadal to become the number two ranked player in the world on reaching the final of the event, defeated Juan Martin del Potro 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 to secure the fourth Masters crown of his career.
Murray has indicated in the past that the US Open is the Grand Slam event he stands the best chance of winning and the bookmakers appear to believe only one man can stop him - world number one and reigning five-time champion Roger Federer, who is 6/4 to make it six in a row at Stan James(Go to Stan James »).
Federer defeated Murray in straight sets in last year's final and goes into the tournament as the in-form player in Grand Slams, having regained his Wimbledon title and won his first French Open earlier this season.
