Federer favourite for US Open

Roger Federer is the favourite with most bookies to win the US Open after defeating world number four Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the Cincinnati Masters final yesterday (August 23rd).

Federer - who is 6/4 to win the Flushing Meadows tournament with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») - beat the Serbian 6-1, 7-5 to secure his 15th Masters trophy.

On the way to the finals, the Swiss player also defeated British number one Andy Murray in straight sets, with the Scotsman currently 29/10 to win the US Open, which begins on Monday August 31st.

Commenting on the Cincinnati title, Federer told Sky Sports News: "The whole week has been great to me. Congratulations to Novak, he had a great tournament," adding that the birth of his twin girls a month ago could have stopped him from playing if they had been born later.
