Federer remains favourite in US Open tennis odds

Roger Federer continues to top the list as most likely to win the US Open with a number of bookmakers.

Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») is offering the Swiss multiple Grand Slam champion at odds of 3/5 to lift the trophy after he overcame a tough challenge from Swede Robin Soderling in the fourth round of the Flushing Meadows tournament, winning 6-0 6-3 6-7 (8-6) 7-6 (8-6).

Commenting on the two-hour and 33 minute match, the world number one said: "It was so close towards the end and it's just a great relief to come through because Robin just got better and better as the match went on."

Federer, who has won the US Open on five previous occasions, will now face Serbian Novak Djokovic in the semi-final.

This is the third time in as many years that the two have met in the New York event and Stan James(Go to Stan James ») favours the reigning champion Federer at 2/9.
