Tennis Betting News - Gulbis 'regains Confidence' At Japan Open
Ernests Gulbis has claimed his confidence has returned after knocking sixth seed Radek Stepanek out of the Japan Open. The Latvian - currently 98th in the world - defeated Stepanek in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 and paid tribute to new coach Hernan Gumy for improving his performance.
"He has given me a lot of tips to get back my game," he remarked, adding: "Things have stabilised now. Tennis is a game of confidence. When you win, you don't think."
According to the 21-year-old, he expects to break the top ten within the next two years.
Gulbis will face Juan Monaco in his next match of the tournament, after the Argentine's opponent Guillermo Garcia-Lopez retired through illness in their first round contest.
