Justine Henin 'better Than Before Retirement'

Justine Henin's time away from tennis has seen her improve, according to Nadia Petrova whom she beat this week.

The Belgian defeated the second seed 7-5, 7-5 in her comeback match in the first round of the Brisbane International and the Russian suggested there was no sign of the former world number one having picked up any rust.

"Henin is playing better tennis than before she retired," Petrova remarked.

At the bookmakers, the 27-year-old is the third favourite to win the upcoming Australian Open, with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») pricing her chances at 4/1.

Fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters, who also returned from retirement to triumph at the US Open last year, is the second favourite at 9/2 with Blue Square(Go to Blue Square »), while reigning champion Serena Williams is 11/4 at the same betting service.

Henin has a strong record at the tournament, beating Clijsters in the final to win in 2004 and finishing as runner-up to Amelie Mauresmo two years later.
