Roddick Favourite For ATP Memphis
American Andy Roddick has emerged as the favourite to win the upcoming ATP Memphis event. Starting today (February 15th), the tournament also sees Fernando Verdasco considered as a potential challenge, with Stan James(Go to Stan James ») offering odds of 5/1 on him securing the title.
However, Skybet(Go to Skybet ») has Roddick at 2/1, despite the 27-year-old being defeated by the Spaniard 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the recent SAP Open.
Commenting on his victory, which prevented Roddick from landing his fourth triumph at the San Jose feature, Verdasco claimed it is "special".
"This win will give me a lot of confidence I know the top ten guys are tough and last year I was really close in a lot of matches," he added.
The 26-year-old, who is yet to win a Grand Slam trophy, only managed to make 54 per cent of his first serves in the opening set, yet managed to hold his nerve throughout the remainder of the match.
