Khan outlines new strategy

Amir Khan has unveiled new tactics to defeat WBA light-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik in their upcoming bout. The Bolton boxer - who will face his opponent at Manchester's MEN Arena this Saturday (July 18th) - said he will attempt to overcome Kotelnik's defensive counterpunching style by changing his attack focus, Sky Sports News reports. He said: "Kotelnik is a fighter who keeps his guard very high so I think the body shots are going to work as well as the angles, I've got to hit and move."Remaining patient will be key to winning the bout, Khan explained, with trainer Freddie Roach helping to put together a new strategy for the title fight. While the 22-year-old admitted the Ukrainian was tough, he believes the additional training he has put into fight will make all the difference. Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») has Khan as a 4/11 favourite to defeat the current WBA holder at the weekend. Those looking to bet on something a little more varied can find odds of 11/8 with Ladbrokes (Go to Ladbrokes ») that Kotelnik will be either knocked out or knocked down during the match.
