Mayweather: I'm The Only Boxing Mega-superstar

Floyd Mayweather Jr has asserted that he is the only "mega-superstar" in the boxing world ahead of his return to the sport after a near two-year lay-off.

The outspoken pugilist said that while there may be other "star" fighters, he eclipses all of them with his talent.

He remarked: "People seem to forget, I fought Ricky Hatton when he was undefeated and I laid down the blueprint for how to beat him."

During his absence from competition, Mayweather had to give up his best pound-for-pound fighter in the world title to Manny Pacquiao, but he may be looking to secure it again when he faces Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez at the weekend.

Despite the possibility of ring-rust, bookmakers still favour the returning athlete with Totesport(Go to Totesport ») offering odds of 1/4 on him winning the September 20th bout at the MGM Grand Arena.

Those looking to bet on Marquez can find him at 100/30 with Sportingbet(Go to Sportingbet »).
