Boxing Betting - Valuev Performance Affected By Haye Jibes?

Russian heavyweight boxer Nikolai Valuev could be affected by scathing remarks made by upcoming WBA title challenger David Haye, according to the champion's promoter.

Kalle Sauerland said that while the 7 foot 2 inch fighter has laughed off Haye's comments that he is a "circus freak", he is less pleased that the Londoner punched the head from a cardboard cut-out of Valuev at a press conference earlier this month.

"He promised me that he's going to knock Haye out, which he doesn't normally say about opponents," Sauerland remarked. "I think Haye has got to him a little bit."

Scheduled for November 7th, the bout will see Valuev defend his title for the second time after beating Evander Holyfield last year.

The 23-stone giant has lost just once in his career - to Uzbek Ruslan Chagaev in 2007 - yet he is the underdog for the Hayes clash with Sportingbet(Go to Sportingbet ») offering odds of 31/20 that the Russian will retain his title.

Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») has Haye at 8/15.
