Bjorn wants to play in Ryder Cup

Golfer Thomas Bjorn has suggested he would like to play in next year's Ryder Cup after securing a joint lead in the Wales Open. The Danish player, who has been touted as one of Colin Montgomerie's assistants for next year, implied he would like to take a more active role in the biennial tournament. He said: "If I don't make the team I am happy to help, but if I [do] then I will obviously play."Bjorn hasn't played in the Ryder Cup since 2002, but shot a five-under-par 66 at the Celtic Manor, giving him the lead alongside Alan Mclean, Nick Dougherty and David Frost. This left him six strokes clear of US captain Corey Pavin and three better than Montgomerie. Betdaq (Go to Betdaq ») currently offers odds of 8/1 on Bjorn to win the Wales Open, while early odds at 10bet (Go to 10Bet ») have Europe as favourites to win the Ryder Cup at 9/5.
