Finchem: Tiger Will Be Missed
Tim Finchem, head of the US Tour, has noted that the championships will miss Tiger Woods, who has announced an indefinite career break. Finchem said the sport will not be "the same" without the world number one player and admitted he wanted "him to come back and play".
He remarked: "When you step back and look at the last 13 years Tiger Woods has been an incredibly positive asset and impactor for the PGA Tour."
According to Finchem, despite the player's private life problems, he expects that Woods will still garner significant support from the fans once he has dealt with these issues.
Woods has featured on the front pages frequently recently after a number of women have come forward claiming they have had affairs with the 33-year-old.
Those looking ahead to next year can put money on the 2010 US Masters, with Phil Mickelson the favourite without Woods in the field.
He can be bought at 11/2 with William Hill(Go to William Hill »), while Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power ») is offering odds of 18/1 for Lee Westwood winning.
