Monty Suggests European Ryder Cup Team Could Be Best Yet
Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie has suggested his European team could be the best ever heading into the competition later this year. The Scotsman told the press this week that he has never seen such a strong group of players from the continent, which could put his side in good stead for the Celtic Manor in October.
"We've a great wealth of talent in Europe, more so than I've ever witnessed in my career," he commented.
After three successive victories, Europe lost the Ryder Cup to the US in 2008.
However, they are 10/11 favourites to regain the trophy at Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes ») in 2010, with world number one golfer Tiger Woods expected to be missing from the visiting squad.
The US are 11/8 at Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet ») to win again, while a tie is priced at 10/1 with the same bookmaker.
There have only been two draws in the history of the competition, with one of them occurring when the match was between the US and Great Britain, as opposed to Europe.
