McIlroy 'hoping For Major Improvements Within 4 Years'
World number 11 Rory McIlroy has revealed that a major title victory is his main ambition for the next four years of his career. The Northern Irishman stated that this is his "ultimate goal", adding that he is looking to be the best golfer possible.
He remarked: "I am gaining experience every year and by the time I'm 24, 25 I will have played in 20, 25 majors ... so hopefully by then I should know how to finish them off."
The 20-year-old narrowly missed out on the Race to Dubai last season and he said that chances like this are making him a more well-rounded athlete.
Last year was a satisfactory 12-month period considering that the experience of playing in the World Golf Championships was all new, he explained.
McIlroy is currently the favourite to win the Dubai Desert Classic, which starts later this month, with Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes ») and Coral(Go to Coral ») offering odds of 8/1 that he will be victorious.
