McIlroy: I Won't Be Changing My Swing

Rory McIlroy has stated that he will not be swapping the way he swings his club even after being diagnosed with stretched ligaments in his back.

The Northern Irishman is receiving treatment ahead of the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship this week, but he said his style of play will remain the same.

"I can't change. I've done this since I was two years old," he remarked. "[My back] is fine compared to what it used to be."

According to the 20-year-old, the onset of pain is sporadic and generally only begins to set in after four weeks of regular events.

Describing the injury as nothing more than "a niggle", he added that it is much better than it was in 2007 before the Walker Cup.

Steve Stricker is currently the favourite with Betfred(Go to Betfred ») to win the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship at 14/1, while Sportingbet(Go to Sportingbet ») has McIlroy at 16/1.
