Woods Return 'is On The Cards'

Speculation that Tiger Woods is set to return to golf is mounting after the PGA Tour commissioner stated that he thought his return was approaching.

Peter Finchem said that he expects to hear soon whether Woods will be playing in March or April.

The world number one has been away from the sport since information about his private life was revealed by the media and there has been constant conjecture over the date he will start playing again.

Mr Finchem noted: "It is going to be huge when he comes back and it is going to be an interesting thing - how he re-enters the game, how he plays, how he deals with the reaction to his statement."

With the Masters due to start in the first week of April, Woods is already 4/1 favourite with Sportingbet(Go to Sportingbet ») to take the title.

Should he decide to stay away from the first major of the year, however, his fellow countryman Phil Mickelson is 5/1 with Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») to win the event.
