Woods May Regret 'not Coming Back Earlier'

Jack Nicklaus has described the decision of Tiger Woods to come back to golf at the Masters in Augusta as surprising.

The Golden Bear - who holds the record for major wins with 18 - noted that he always expected Woods to play the event, but he was expecting him to have some tournaments under his belt by then.

"Tiger's a phenomenal athlete but if I went to Augusta cold, I would not have been at my best," the 70-year-old added.

Despite the fact that it will be his first start for over four months, the bookies do not seem to be worried with his lack of game-time, as Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet ») offers odds of 9/2 on him lifting the crown.

Ireland's Padraig Harrington is the top European in the betting, as Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») has him at 16/1 to emerge victorious, which drops to 14/1 if Woods is taken out of the running.
