Sebastian Vettel is looking to extend his lead at the top of the drivers’ championship this weekend when Formula 1 arrives at Silverstone.

Vettel has won six of the opening eight races of the season and currently holds a 77-point advantage over Jenson Button and Mark Webber who share second place in the overall standings. Lewis Hamilton is a further 12 points behind.

Hamilton is bidding to join an illustrious list of drivers who have had multiple victories at Silverstone while Button has yet to achieve a podium finish on his home track.

“They [Red Bull] are extremely quick, have reliability and it is tough to beat them,” said Button ahead of the race.

“(But) we have beaten them twice. We are close to them - it's not like they have a massive, massive advantage.”

Sportingbet (Go to Sportingbet ») make Vettel the 10/11 favourite to improve on his winning record, teammate Webber is 4/1 followed by Hamilton and Fernando Alonso at 6/1 and Jenson Button at 9/1.

Vettel’s record of taking pole position is even more impressive than his race winning record as he has started seven out of the eight races at number one on the grid. He is 1/2 to make that eight out of nine.
