Woods gets Presidents Cup wildcard
Tiger Woods has been confirmed as one of Fred Couples’ captain’s picks for the upcoming Presidents Cup.
The former world number one has slipped down the rankings to number 50 in the world due to injuries and a loss of form over the past two years, but Couples sees enough in the player to believe that he can be an asset to the American team.
“Tiger was in the heat of battle in Augusta [and] almost won there,” said Couples earlier this year.
“He has done everything I asked him to do and so I told him the reason I picked him early was there was some things I needed him to do.
“I talk to Tiger a lot and I know he is working hard I am counting on him to play well in Australia.”
FedEx Cup winner Bill Haas was Couples’ other captain’s pick and completes the team of 12 that will take on an International team captained by Greg Norman in Australia next month.
Victor Chandler (Go to VCBet ») make the USA the 8/11 favourites in the betting with the International team priced at odds of Evens. Bet365 (Go to Bet365 ») price Woods at odds of 9/1 to be America’s top points scorer.
